Central Injection Agri are agricultural contractors based in South Canterbury servicing the Ashburton District and North Canterbury.
CIA Ltd Specialises in Efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly slurry management including slurry injection, muck spreading, rock picking and more.
Owner /Operator Tom Hails from Fedamore, County Limerick, Munster country, Ireland. Tom O’Keefe landed in New Zealand in September 2003. Tom had plans of only being in New Zealand for the upcoming harvest ………19 years later Tom O'keeffe is still here!
Tom is now an established contractor with a thriving effluent business, 4 children and his partner - Sandra. There is a lot more about us, however let's talk about Tom's journey which leads to contracting in New Zealand.
Tom started working on a dairy farm when he was 10yrs old, then went on to work for a local contractor for 10yrs harvesting silage, maize, and spreading slurry.
His New Zealand journey began in mid-canterbury where he took on work for various agricultural contractors. A permanent position came up with Turley Farms, Tom stayed here for the next 10years! Tom had many different roles for contractors in Ashburton, including harvesting, dairy conversions, and tractor driving. A one-year stint on a High Country Station in the MacKenzie District where he got to see New Zealand farming in a whole different light.
With life long experience in the farming and agricultural industry, Tom always hads a vision to be working for himself, so when the right contracting business opportunity came along – Tom was ready.
Not so long until a new business opportunity did come along, and it involved slurry spreading – albeit in a more environmentally friendly way. The redistribution of Dairy farms effluent through injecting back into the paddocks seemed like a very smart and effective way of fertilising farms. With the support and sound business advice accumulated along the way, Tom became an owner-operator of his very own Agricultural contracting business – Central Injection Agri.
Tom values the contribution of knowledge and business smarts from local contractors that has seen his business grow from strength to strength – Just like the paddocks he fertilisers.
Although the business is centred in Pleasant Point, CIA contracts to farms throughout the Canterbury region. Covering the regions of North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury. When Tom is not on a paddock working, he and sometimes his partner Sandra are on the road relocating to another job!
