We are Ag Contractors Specialising in Efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly slurry management including liquid slurry injection, Rock Picking, Green waste compost spreading and muck spreading.
Owner and operator Tom O’Keefe, originally from Fedamore, County Limerick, Munster, Ireland, arrived in New Zealand in September 2003 with the intention of staying for just the harvest season. Nineteen years later, he is still thriving in New Zealand.
Tom is now an established contractor with a thriving effluent business and 4 children – with two of them, Flynn and Alex now working in the business alongside his partner – Sandra.
Tom started working on a dairy farm when he was 10yrs old, then went on to work for a local contractor for 10yrs harvesting silage, maize, and spreading slurry.
Tom’s adventure in New Zealand commenced in mid-Canterbury, where he worked for a variety of agricultural contractors. He eventually secured a permanent position at Turley Farms, where he remained for the next decade! Throughout his time in Ashburton, Tom took on numerous roles for contractors, involving harvesting, dairy conversions, and tractor driving. He also spent a year on a High Country Station in the MacKenzie District, which provided him with a unique perspective on New Zealand farming.
With life long experience in the farming and agricultural industry, Tom always had a vision to be working for himself, so when the right contracting business opportunity came along – Tom was ready.
Not so long until a new business opportunity did come along, and it involved slurry spreading – albeit in a more environmentally friendly way. The redistribution of Dairy farms effluent through injecting back into the paddocks seemed like a very smart and effective way of fertilising farms. With the support and sound business advice accumulated along the way, Tom became an owner-operator of his very own Agricultural contracting business – Central Injection Agri.
Central Injection Agri has added to their AG Contracting services with the addition of the ELHO Rock picker and Green Waste Compost Spreading.Tom values the contribution of knowledge and business smarts from local contractors that has seen his business grow from strength to strength – Just like the paddocks he fertilisers.
Although the business is centered in Pleasant Point, CIA contracts to farms throughout the Canterbury region. Covering the regions of North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury. When Tom is not on a paddock working, he and sometimes his partner Sandra are on the road relocating to another job!
